We Start with a bit of metal detecting on the Hill, a 4x4 is good, but if not we will get you up there in one of our cars. Its not far from town but the track in is 4x4 ONLY. 

Its a crash course in Metal detecting and designed to give you a small taste of what using a machine that beeps at you all the time is like. Its not a comprehensive course and best for those that have never used a detector before.

You never Know, we have had visitors find gold before that have never touched a metal detector in their lives.

Got your own machine in the garage? Bring it along and we can taker a look and show some basics or give you the brutal truth.

We Then head into town (Sofala) for a spot of Lunch, while the guide gets the gear ready for an afternoon Panning session in the Turon River. You can BYO Lunch and enjoy it on the banks of the river.

Try and stay out of the Pub, we have lost more than 1 group to an afternoon on the schooners. LOL

After Lunch a Gold panning session where we test your panning skills and the strength of your back and legs.

MASSIVE HINT: Bring Gumboots if you have them, or even Waders. It will make panning so much easier if you can stand in the water.

Its very common for people to find small specs in the panning session. We will provide a vial for you take the gold home with you.

You may not get rich on an Aussie Gold Experience but you'll get happy and have a story to tell around many a campfire in the future.
